OK, so here's my first attempt at a higher-triangle weapon - the Kar 98K. Feel free to input some criticism. :)

better than some I've seen :D

I can offer some constructive feedback if you'd like :) could you grab the tri count and maybe a wireframe or too?

Yea, it's got 1244 triangles. It may seem kind of small, but my experience in CoH taught me to trim triangles from places that aren't seen and get the best results from the least triangles.

Wireframe will be added to the OP in a bit.

EDIT:
And added. And yes, feedback would be nice. :)

For the triangle count it's about as detailed as it needs to be. I'd pay close attention to the gun itself though, the details are mostly there - they just need refining. A couple of areas you might be able to close up a bit (from what I can see)

Front sight: http://www.varusteleka.com/pictures/2039.jpg (sight hood needs bringing up a tiny bit)
Front bracket: http://jakesgunreviews.weebly.com/uploads/8/0/6/8/8068894/915239782.jpg?902 (the bracket at the front needs a fair bit of reshaping)
Stock: http://www.gdrecon.co.uk/images/K98/4-views-K98-Mauser.jpg (Stock needs to be it's thickest at the bolt, the stock tapers from the strap bracket towards the muzzle, reaching it's thickest at the bolt then tapers down a little to wards the base of the grip - thickening out a slight bit towards the butt. - if that made any sense) I would also look at rounding of the stock a little bit - removing some polys from the curve at the grip should help with the smoothing group errors. (this should help! https://d2t1xqejof9utc.cloudfront.net/screenshots/pics/7a8758920f9f9bb71296596c9252b7a8/medium.JPG)

Can't comment much on the bolt or receiver or rear sights - these fixes should be doable without raising the poly count massively, hope it helped!

I can fix the front sight & braket pretty easily. But redoing the stock is a tough job, considering that that's why took up a majority of the 4 hours it took to make this. Nonetheless, I'll see what I can do. :)

Also, what's wrong with the rear sights and bolt? I can see that the rear sights could use some work, curtosy of my loy-poly addiction from CoH, but the bolt?

Can't see the bolt well enough to pass on any advice :) if you want to link some up close images I can though. For a first attempt it's fine - I've modelled the 98k so many times its not even funny. You'll find it gets better each time :)

Sorry I haven't been able to get back to this thread, been caught up with some work and the fact that school for me has just started. The fixes are done and hopefully I'll be able to get some screenshots up by today or tomorrow.
