News Update #8
Achtung! Feuerstrahl!

Hello and welcome to another update of Traction Wars. This month we have several new weapon models to show off, including the Kar98k, the Webley Revolver, the Panzerfaust Anti Tank Weapon, as well as the Pegasus Bridge static. Also, we would like to welcome two new developers to the team Shifty and Sir Apple. Welcome aboard guys!

The Panzerfaust "armor fist" was an inexpensive, recoilless German anti-tank weapon used during World War II. It consisted of a small, disposable, preloaded, launch tube firing a high explosive anti-tank warhead, operated by a single soldier. While it was recoilless, it shot out fiery discharge to the rear which prompted for the warning, "Achtung! Feuerstrahl!" (Danger! Fire Tail). The Panzerfaust 60 was the most common version and remained in service until the end of the war. The Panzerfaust 150 variant was the basis for the development of the Soviet RPG-2 which later evolved into the RPG-7. The model was created by [TWDEV] Sir Apple during his trial task.

The Karabiner 98k (Kar98k) was a bolt-action rifle adopted as the standard infantry rifle in 1935 by the German Wehrmacht, and used extensively during World War Two. The rifle featured a controlled-fed, bolt-action system based on the Mauser M 98. It could be loaded with five rounds of 7.92x57mm ammunition from a stripper clip, which was then loaded into an internal magazine. Derived from earlier rifles, namely the Karabiner 98b, which in turn had been developed from the Gewehr 98, the Kar98k rifle was shorter than its predecessors. Just like the earlier versions however, the rifle was known for its reliability, good accuracy, and an effective range of up to 500 meters with iron sights. It featured a variety of scopes, bayonets and a rifle grenade launcher. The model was created by mackan4762 during his trial task.

The Webley Revolver was the standard issue service pistol for the armed forces of the United Kingdom, the British Empire, and the Commonwealth from 1887 until 1963. While the official service pistol for the British Military during World War II was the Enfield No. 2 Mk I .38/200 revolver, a critical shortage of handguns forced the British Commonwealth to employ both the Webley Mk IV in .38/200 and the .455 Webley Mk VI. The model shown below was created by [TWDEV] Edad Tace.

The Pegasus Bridge, located in the Caen Canal in France, also known as the Benouville Bridge, was one of several objectives in the British Mission, code named "Operation Tonga". Commandos approached by gliders and landed near these objectives during the early moments of the Normandy Invasion on June 5th and 6th, 1944. Their objective was to capture or destroy the bridge which the Germans used for transporting troops and arms to several villages near Caen. The Bridge was renamed "Pegasus Bridge" in honor of the brave men who fought and died capturing the bridge. This name derives from the shoulder emblem worn by the British Commandos, the flying horse, Pegasus. The model was started by gomgom50 during his trial task, and later completed by [TWDEV] General Naga.

The KAR98K`s bolt action lever is "to skinny" for want of a better description.
Needs enlarging somewhat.

The webley revolver is rather "angular" also.

Aye, K98 is still a huge WIP (with every essence of the word). I'm extremely picky and detail oriented with weapon modeling, so it will be correct in the end hehe.  :)

Cheers

I'm not sure on the status of the bridge to be honest. We are currently preoccupied with other, bigger, things.. though :).

Well although I`m not a "member" of the team,so to speak....I`m quite willing to have a pop at texturing the bridge.
And before anyone intercedes.....I`m a decent texturer but only experienced with diffuse textures & I`ve never stolen anything from anyone in my entire life.(so theres no need for a "we`ve worked on these for god knows how long and don`t give them out to just anybody replies"..Already heard it!
Just because I don`t want to "join" the team, doesn`t mean I`m not interested in helping out,if at all possible....
Anyway.....I`m not going to bloody beg,but the offers there, just as it was originally with the sten.....You guy`s decide, but I won`t offer again......I do have some pride.

Well,

I speak for the team when I say we appreciate help from the community. Though something like a bridge requires normal mapping (its quite easy once you get the jist of it...), and of course a specular map (very simple).

Though this is far from up to me, all I can do is speak my opinions, as I just did.  ;)

Yeh.I know it will require normal and specular & I`m sure if you chaps agree. You`ll help me out with those.
Thanks at least for the thumbs up.....(of a sorts)....Your not a fence sitter,Nice to see & most refreshing....People who have opinions but are retarded in sharing is a pet hate...I enjoy some comeback on post`s....It makes for good discussion and debate.

I'm sure we could work out some kind of contributing artist thing.
Well I`m up for it bud.Over to you guy`s on that decision though eh?

I'm not sure if you've been talked to about this yet. Nonetheless, if you haven't, give us some time to get things organized before we start taking in contributing artists (week wise). The bridge is currently not in the proper stage for texturing, as of yet. We have other content (all has been shown via news update, mind) that we consider allowing contributing artists to work on. We are picky when it comes to allowing contributing artists to work on TW content, souly because they need to have true skill in order to be put under contributing artist category (skill requirements are that of being a normal developer, if not greater). Which, you obviously have skill so this wouldn't really be a problem.

With that said, and if you weren't already informed, I have spoken with Naga about this. So you'll be updated on this in 10 or so days, give or take, I can't give exact numbers right now.  :)

Cya chaps & thanks for the 10 day or so update.I think 18 day`s of waiting without a sniff of a response is quite enough for anyone to stomache!
Good luck with the mod.

Bull there is no need to take offense to have not being contacted yet.  ;) We certainly didn't forget about you - so, storming away is not a very good solution.

Sorry if you feel offended, but we are not ignoring people who are wiling to help TW. You should note we only make statics from start to finish when they are needed, for Instance Pegasus bridge is not currently needed so we cannot prioritize prepping it for texturing when in reality we could be working on something else, that is needed.
