Ah, sorry I didn't phrase that well... I mean the MP 40 has a high rate of fire when compared to, for example, the K 98 Kurz. Paratroops, whether just having landed or storming a town, found themselves more often than not in need of a high rate of short ranged fire, rather than a low rate of long ranged fire. Thus the MP 40 was often better suited to paratroops.
