• Welcome to the Vanguard Community

These forums date back to the game's origins as the Crysis mod Traction Wars. Over the years the game and internet habits have evolved and discord.gg/vanguardww2 is now the principle home of the community.

The team continue to read and reply to posts here, but we can be contacted more quickly on Discord.

    Suppression effects

I would first like to congratulate the Vanguard team for bringing the game one step closer to reality. You're doing mighty fine work! While I generally don't (yet) mind the "heavy" vignette and screen darkening I have noticed the comments of concerned players and potential players that the...

    Foxhole

Alright, I'm sure many of you are aware of this game with a very interesting concept, but here's for everyone who still hasn't heard of it... What is Foxhole? Foxhole is a massively multiplayer game where you will work with hundreds of players to shape the outcome of a persistent online...

    Steam recommendations?

^ Bah, Battlefront III seems to me as an overpriced standalone graphics pack for Battlefield 4. In my opinion it's worth 20 $ max. (Alright, if it wouldn't use that crappy platform called Origin and if it wouldn't require that Season pass nonsense to get most out of it, it would be worth 30, I...

    Shooting from the vehicles

You do realize that throwing sticky bombs from a moving vehicle is perfectly feasible to do IRL. It's just that you would have to be mad to attempt it as the things had a nasty tendency to stick to your trousers instead of the enemy vehicle. :p As for the bazooka, Schreck or Panzerfaust I'd...

    Weekend Madness! You chose!

Just a shout to everyone that it has been confirmed that FH2 works with the free* copy of BF 2 too! You can try to get it here: BF2 Battlelog - Home *free as in abandonware, but still requires registration on that community backed service

Do you like Forgotten Hope 2?

Yep. Big battleships, like this one in FHSW (!) xD: Over 100 guns... Quite an experience. The only downside is that mostly Asians play it with a full server every day. Euros have to put up with ~30 people, and that's on good days. As for the Americans and Australians, they're out of luck.

    Any other WW II games?

And that's where you lose all credibility. :p CoH might be realistic if you are willing to squint a bit and imagine you're actually a Company Major sitting in the HQ and moving troops around and you somehow get this really cool visualization of how the battle is going. Blitzkrieg mod makes it...

    Any other WW II games?

Forgotten Hope - News FH2 is basically PR, just without all the bullshit that makes PR annoying (and awesome at the same time, depending on your mood/kicks). And it's set in WWII with oldschool bolt-action rifles, instead of all the full-auto-noobguns in PR.

    Any other WW II games?

RO2 & FH2, definitely the most popular (and pretty realistic). RO:Ostfront is dead (apart from some occasional clan games), and R&L too...

    Realistic suggestions!

Not good enough, I want at least this level of detail! :p Imagine the hilarity that would ensue on the server: - "Hans, get that shell in, that Cromwell is closing fast" - "Jawohl Werner, let me just slide it in the breech... Oops I dropped it. Oh wait's this is a HE shell" - "Los, los, get...

    Visible teammate names

In my opinion the "tactical HUD view" should enable you to see your teammate's names when turned on. It is an "arcade-like" feature but it's still present in many games. Now this might bother the "immersion purists" but I have a counter argument for that. Since you are trying to achieve a...

    NCO ideas

Now we all know NCOs are kind of important for the morale of soldiers in a war. A good NCO can inspire his men to stand steady against impossible odds, and keep discipline even when casualties are mounting. In FPS games NCOs usually do get some perks (like being able to call in artillery...

    Community Questions #3

Hmmm... looks quite frozen to me... :P

    Point systems, KDR and more.

I have never been a fan of K/D ratio as the ultimate measure of your success. What is it worth if you killed 10 random soldiers in the middle of nowhere but you haven't helped take the designated objective at all. Furthermore I believe K/D ratio promotes camping in a lot of games. Therefore I...
